Phil Campbell senior Brody Nix is finishing up his high school career on a high note. He led the varsity football team in tackles and Feb. 7 signed a football scholarship with Milsaps College.

Nix has been playing football as well as baseball and basketball since he was 5 years old. He said football has always been his favorite.

“There’s nothing like it. It’s a different kind of game,” he said.

One of the reasons football stands out to him is the feeling of family he said develops within the team.

That familial atmosphere is one of the reasons he chose Milsaps College to further his education and sports career. Milsaps is a small school located in Jackson, Miss.

“I don’t feel like just a number or a random person there. It felt like home. I fit in,” Nix said.

While he said he is a little nervous, he plans on keeping his focus on his academics and football and succeeding on this new adventure.

Nix is going to pursue an education degree and plans to pursue a career in coaching. He said he would love to one day coach college football.

“I would love to come back to Phil Campbell. It’s a great community. It would be great if I could come back and make a positive impact,” Nix said.

He’s already made a positive impact on the football team playing defense ,with 75 solo tackles, four sacks and 126 total tackles.
